BlankBottle Empire 2021 is Pieter Walser’s bold Stellenbosch red blend, created to honour the region’s historic place as South Africa’s wine “Empire.” Usually shaped in a Bordeaux style, it combines Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The wine opens with blackberries, cassis and plum, followed by cocoa, cedar, spice and earthy fynbos. Full-bodied and richly textured, it offers fine-grained tannins, balanced oak influence and a long, structured finish. Inspired as a Stellenbosch counterpart to the Swartland Revolution, Empire proves that this classic region can still produce distinctive, complex and expressive wines of real character, with impressive depth and elegance.
